Is this a medical ultrasound?
No. Sweet Baby Imaging provides elective prenatal ultrasounds for bonding and keepsake purposes only. Our ultrasounds are not intended to diagnose or rule out medical conditions and do not replace the care of your OB or midwife.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No referral is required. However, we do ask that you are receiving prenatal care from a licensed healthcare provider.
When can I come for my first ultrasound?
We offer ultrasounds starting at 6 weeks of pregnancy so you can see your baby and hear the heartbeat (when detectable which is usually between 7-8 weeks).
When is the best time for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
The best time for facial images is typically between 26 and 32 weeks. Every pregnancy is different, so image quality depends on your baby's position, movement, fluid levels, placenta placement, and maternal body type.
Can you determine my baby's gender?
Yes! Gender determination is available beginning at 14 weeks. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee gender if your baby is not in a favorable position but we do offer a complementary redo for our gender scans. Ongoing hydration can pay a major role in gender determination the first time.
What if my baby won't cooperate?
Babies have minds of their own! We encourage moms to drink plenty of water (at least 80 ounces daily) in the days leading up to the appointment. If we are unable to obtain good facial images because of your baby's position, we offer one complimentary rescan (subject to our studio policy).
How long are appointments?
Appointment times vary depending on the package you choose.
Can I bring family and friends?
Absolutely! We love sharing this special experience with your loved ones. We have comfortable seating for 10 but have extra seating available should you need it for your family!
Do you record the heartbeat?
Yes! All packages come automatically with a video of your entire ultrasound. Beginning at 7 weeks, we include the heartbeat with every video. We also offer heartbeat bears and keepsake jewelry for your baby's heartbeat.
Will I receive photos?
Yes! Every package includes printed ultrasound images as well as digital images and videos.
What should I do before my appointment?
- Drink plenty of water for several days before your appointment (a minimum of 80 ounces daily).
- Have a smoothie or sweet treat about 10-15 minutes before arriving.
- Try to avoid eating a large meal before coming. Small meals or snacks are fine.
Does placenta placement affect the images?
Yes. Factors such as baby's position, gestational age, placenta placement, amniotic fluid, and maternal body type can all affect image quality. We always do our best to capture beautiful memories. We advise that if your placenta is posterior to schedule your 4D ultrasound between 26-32 weeks but if it is anterior, please try to schedule it between 26-30 weeks.
Can I use my insurance?
Since these are elective ultrasounds, insurance does not cover the cost. Payment is due at the time of your appointment.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Yes! We understand life happens. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule. We do require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. The booking deposit of $25 is forfeited if you cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours in advance.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards, cash, and other available payment methods through our booking system.
What if you notice something concerning?
Because this is not a diagnostic exam, we do not evaluate your baby for medical conditions. If we observe something that causes concern, we will recommend that you contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Do you sell baby gifts?
Yes! We offer a boutique with baby gifts, keepsakes, clothing, heartbeat bears, and other items perfect for expecting families. All items are available to shop on our website or in store. We do offer local delivery.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates make wonderful baby shower or pregnancy announcement gifts and can be purchased for any dollar amount or package. They can be purchased online for a digital gift card or in person for a physical one.

Yes! You can conveniently book your appointment online anytime through our website.
